Davitia James
Project Officer
Davitia James is the Project Officer at Create Caribbean. A geologist and science writer, she earned her Bachelor’s in Geology from SUNY Geneseo and Master’s in Earth Science from the University of Northern Colorado. Her academic work has focused on volcanology and planetary science, and she enjoys describing recent geologic research to general audiences in an accessible way. Davitia is also interested in the overlap between earth sciences and the humanities. Her passion for sharing stories, research and the environment are a perfect match for Create. Davitia taught at the 2021 Create and Code Summer Tech Camp and helped develop the “Earth and Space Science” theme of that year. In her free time you can find her exploring Dominica’s many hiking trails, reading or sharing updates about her cat, Obsidian.
